BHHS  Golden Properties Agents Volunteer on a Magical Disney Day with the Sunshine Kids 

BHHS Golden Properties Takes Day to be a Kid with the Sunshine Kids Foundation 

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices has sponsored the “Sunshine Kids Foundation” as its main philanthropy for more than 25 years. 

This year the Golden Properties office  connected with the non-profit, dedicated to children with cancer, to see if we can volunteer hands-on with the children. 

The organization this month has sent 26 children from all over the states to spend one week touring Southern California. They asked us to help chaperone in Disneyland. 

We can’t even put into words the joy we felt working with these children. 

To hear their stories, and get to know the individual children on a one-on-one basis was even more magical than being in Disneyland itself. 

Kaylee Peterson, Sunshine Kids Activities Coordinator told us that the children come from all over the country and from Canada. They were ages 11-18 with seven medical representatives. Their official hashtag for this week #CAFTF19 

A sunshine nurse told us all the children get along very well and look out for one another. It’s as though they all knew each other before coming in this trip. Some of them do come across one another in the same hospital, but most were meeting for the first time on this trip. 

One sunshine kid told us a story about her newly don’t metal spine, and her excitement about going on all the rides because she is able to.

Some of the other activities on their California trip included a visit to Hollywood, Universal Studios, LAPD and more.

The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, we are committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for Kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.
